Big Cat, Believed To Be A Cougar, Attacks Horses In CT

One week ago, people at a horse farm on the North Guilford / Durham line were shaken when two horses boarded there were attacked by an animal.  The pony, who was loved by many of the children who ride at the barn, was hurt so badly that it was decided to end his suffering..

The other horse, a larger mare, survived and is being treated for her injuries.

But the stable owner still has no definitive answers as to what did this, although people in the area have seen a large cat that they are convinced is a Mountain Lion.

THIS is a very interesting read on the possibility of western Cougars and big cats from Canada migrating to eastern states in the U.S., now that the deer population is so abundant.. click HERE

The following pictures are of the sweet pony who had to be euthanized.. again, my heart breaks for the family and my thoughts and Prayers go out to them..

Officials do not believe that the big cats are taking up permanent residence in CT, however, lots of folks tend to disagree..

More on that HERE

Now HERE is a picture from someone in East Hampton.. that is NO Bobcat, and from the comments, it's been seen by other people in town..

This next video provides a much better picture (literally!) of the fact that, YES INDEED, there may be Mountain Lions in Connecticut..

The following GIF and video are from a sighting in Farmington, CT!

And there are folks who think the Eastern Mountain Lion NEVER totally died out.. that they have been breeding in the woods of nearby New Hampshire all along..
