This 'artificial sun' is called Synlight, and scientists are hoping to learn from the project.
They want to harness the power of light, and create another source of renewable energy.
When the ‘synlight’ is turned on, it has a combined intensity that’s ten thousand times stronger than the sun’s light on Earth, and the temp is 5,400 degrees Fahrenheit!
It's pretty much the world's largest man-made sun.
It's a bright idea, but also quite expensive, can you IMAGINE the electric bill???
Here's another type of 'fake sunlight' that's a little more affordable, and won't melt any humans, so you could actually have it in your own house.
And this clever idea makes it look like you have a real window, with the sun shining through it, in a room 'without a view' so to speak!
Of course, the above project does seem a little difficult for the average person, so maybe trying something like a therapy lamp might be better..
