Farmer Gives Away Harvest To Feed Hungry Neighbors

Jonathan Lawler was doing pretty good.  His farm was harvesting over 700,000 pounds of food annually, and his transportation consulting firm was helping to pay the bills, so when his 15 year old told him how kids at his school had to get meals from the food pantry, he was shocked.

He says he just didn't think that people could be going hungry in a farming community, but the reality was that the growers weren't producing anything you could just 'pick up and eat.'

So he set out to do something about it, and now provides not only fruits and vegetables, but raises farm animals so that people in his 'neighborhood' can have access to healthy, home-grown food.
