Apple was recently rumored to have gotten a patent to use an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for future iPhones. The Touch ID scanner, which would happen to save bezel space, has been put to use already in Android phones like the LG G5. The upcoming iPhone 8, which may have this feature, will be called the "iPhone Edition", and features a vertical dual-camera system. This feature would be harder to implement than a touch scanner, but Apple has yet to confirm any of these rumors.
