Thomas Rhett is beyond country. He's the son of Rhett Akins and was practically raised on the road and on a farm and singing country music, but he still felt in the last few years, he's gotten away from his "roots". One day during the pandemic, 2 of his daughters wanted to go fishing. He grabbed some little fishing poles and they headed to a pond on his property. While they didn't catch anything, he realized that this is what life was all about, simple, joyous times with his family. He knew then that he just wanted to be the best dad that he could and that simpleness spun itself into this song.
