Thanksgiving can be a wonderful holiday but if your dog is a table or counter diver, some foods us peoples enjoy can make our four-legged friends very sick. Their digestive systems are different from ours, so while we can digest a hubcap, they cannot. Make sure you don't let them get at these foods and tell Grandpa to stop feeding the dog turkey skin!
- Seasoned turkey. No seasoning is okay, and white meat is better than dark. But NO skin. And of course, no bones because they can splinter
- Garlic or onions are a definite NO NO! They actually can mess up their red blood cell count
- Raisins, grapes, and currants. These can cause kidney failure in dogs and cats
- Desserts - anything with chocolate or anything "sugar-free" can cause digestive distress
Be safe! Eat well, stay healthy!
