Help 22 Abandoned Waterbury Cats

Halfway Home Rescue, Inc. urgently needs your help to care for 22 abandoned cats left outside of Waterbury Animal Control on Friday that the organization saved from being euthanized. Find out how you can help below.

On Friday morning, 22 cats were left in wire dog crates outside of Waterbury Animal Control and dumped from a U-Haul truck. There were several cats per crate with minimal food/water and blankets. Their cages and the cats themselves were covered in feces and urine, and it appeared that they had been in those crates for a while, they were matted to the skin, and they were extremely malnourished.

Waterbury Animal Control does not have an area in their building for cats, and they had planned to take all 22 of them to a vet clinic and have them euthanized. Thankfully, volunteers quickly started rearranging cats currently in foster care to make room for the abandoned bunch. The volunteers brought all 22 cats back to the Halfway Home Rescue, Inc. farm in North Haven and set each one up with a clean litter box, blankets, food and water.

As the cats decompressed, Halfway Home called for all hands on deck as related to volunteers and fundraising for supplies. They are in desperate need of supplies and funding for veterinary care. Below is the supply requested supply list, as well as more information on how to help.
