Community Raises Money for East Lyme Teacher & Family involved in Accident

Veteran East Lyme Math Teacher, Stephanie Sojkowski is on a long route to recovery after she and her family were involved in a car crash.

Posted on the East Lyme Facebook page, a coworker of Sojkowski, Lauren Machnik released the following statement "Stephanie, along with her husband, Steve, and two kids, Jeffrey, and Maya were headed home from skiing at Berkshire East in MA when they were hit, head on, by another vehicle at 65mph. All four were taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.; the kids by ambulance, Steph and her husband by air. All are alive, recovering, and healing, but Stephanie has the most serious injuries. She sustained many broken bones including her neck, back, femur, pelvis, arm, and sacrum. She has broken ribs and orbital bones as well as broken bones involving her sinuses. Thankfully she is alert, aware, and able to move all of her extremities, but it's going to be a very long recovery both physically and mentally."
