Lainey Wilson “can’t sit still” in the single that arrived on Friday (March 13).

The newly-released anthem captures Wilson’s free-spirited, yet driven and hard-working character. The reigning Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year teased “Can’t Sit Still” earlier this year, directing social media followers to a website where they could hear a preview of the song before its release.

“When I hear the words ‘Can’t Sit Still,’ I think of me,” Wilson said with a laugh in a Ford promo that featured the song last month. “I would say it’s one of my qualities that I feel like has been one of the things that’s got me where I’m at. …When it comes to songwriting, and getting creative and things like that, it’s always important for me to try to be one step ahead. This job will keep you moving.

“My friends would describe me as a suitcase with legs,” the self-proclaimed “workhorse” continued. “I never really thought that you could be in, like, 10 different places at once, but somehow we make it happen.”

“Can’t Sit Still” follows Wilson’s latest studio album, Whirlwind, which she released in 2024 and expanded into a 19-track deluxe album in 2025. The Louisiana-born country star’s Whirlwind era includes the title track, “Keep Up With Jones,” “Country’s Cool Again,” “Good Horses” with Miranda Lambert, “Hang Tight Honey,” “Bar In Baton Rouge,” “4x4x,” “Somewhere Over Laredo” and more. Since then, she’s also appeared on star-studded collaborations. Wilson joined rockers Aerosmith and YUNGBLUD on “Wild Woman” in 2025. She also teamed up with Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah and Reba McEntire on Dolly Parton’s new rendition of “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” which made its debut earlier this year.

Wilson is among the country artists nominated at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, returning this spring to Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. See the list of country artists nominated here.
