A Dunkin’ employee has received a surprisingly big tip from a loyal customer: a fully furnished home. Ebony Johnson works the drive-thru at an Ohio Dunkin’ donuts. Over the last few years, she’s become close with one of her customers, Suzanne Burke. Nearly every morning, Burke would see Johnson in the drive-thru and was impressed with Johnson’s customer service.
So when she recently noticed that Johnson wasn’t working her usual shift, she reached out to her. She learned that Johnson had fallen on hard times and that the mother of three had been evicted from her home. So Burke set out to see if she could help her friend.
Burke worked with several organizations to find Johnson a home and partnered with a staging designer and a furniture charity to make sure the house was fully furnished. When Burke presented Johnson and her children with their new home, Johnson was in tears. “I’m just so thankful we’re back in our home,” Johnson says. “The Lord really looked out for me because I kept praying and saying, 'Could I be at home before Christmas?'”
