Boy Graduating High School & College In Same Week

A 12-year-old in North Carolina used his downtime during the pandemic to take extra classes in school. As a result,Mike Wimmeris getting ready to graduate from both high school and college … in the same week! He finished four years of school in one year - two years of high school and a two-year associate’s degree.

The tween will be graduating from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College on May 21st with a 4.0 GPA and from Concord Academy High School on May 28th - where he’s valedictorian and has a 5.45 GPA! Mike says this wasn’t always his plan, but he was taking dual enrollment classes and realized he only needed a few more classes to get his associate’s degree by his high school graduation, so he pushed to make it happen.

Mike has also created his own startup,Reflect Social, and plans to use it to simplify how smart home technology works. He’s now weighing his options for the future, which include job offers in and out of the U.S., more school, or a fellowship that will allow him to grow his startup. He also wants people to know that he still makes time for kid stuff, like building Legos. “A lot of people think I've given up my childhood or somehow lost it,” he says, “and I say to them that I'm having the time of my life.”
