Age is just a number when you’re focused on giving back to the community. Emmaleigh Pierce may only be six-years-old, but she’s dedicated to helping kids in need who are hungry in her Derwood, Maryland area. Her mother, Melissa, says Emmaleigh told her she was worried about kids not having enough food, so they started a food drive to collect donations.
This little girl had a big goal - she wanted to collect 500-pounds of food. The mom and daughter looked for organizations for Emmaleigh to volunteer with, but Melissa says most have an age requirement of 14. Then they found Women Who Care Ministries and the organization offered to help the pint-size advocate launch her food drive.
They spent last Saturday collecting donations and by the end, they had received nearly 500 pounds of food, which is going to kids Emmaleigh’s age who are in need, just like she wanted.
