Trisha Yearwood Contracts COVID-19 While Quarantining With Garth Brooks

Trisha Yearwood has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus), according to a statement from her country star husband Garth Brooks.

The news comes after Brooks and his wife were forced to quarantine earlier this month after being exposed to the virus by someone within their inner circle. Since quarantining together a week after their initial exposure to the disease, however, it has since been confirmed that Yearwood has contracted COVID-19.

However, Brooks, who made the announcement on Wednesday (February 24), remains negative for the virus.

“The Queen and I have now tested twice,” Brooks confirmed via Facebook. “Officially, she’s diagnosed as ‘on her way out of the tunnel’ now, though, which I’m extremely thankful for.”

“Anyone who knows me knows my world begins and ends with Miss Yearwood, so she and I will ride through this together,” wrote the "She's Every Woman" crooner, who intends to keep out of the spotlight and off social media for the time being. “And anyone who knows her knows she's a fighter and she's been doing everything right, so I know we’ll walk out the other side of this thing together.”

“Trisha is doing okay so far, but is dealing with symptoms – She’s tough. She’s stronger than me,” Brooks continued with regards to her health, welcoming prayers from their supporters. “If anyone asks, that's what you can do for her. That’s what I’m doing."

"Living with her, I sometimes take it for granted she’s one of the greatest voices in all of music, so the possible long-term effects on her concern me as her husband and as a fan," he added. "We’re very lucky she is currently under the greatest care in the best city for treating and healing singers.”

This isn’t the first time the couple has been impacted by COVID-19. Yearwood and Brooks were had to quarantine last summer after his daughter, Allie, contracted the disease.
