A Fort Myers, Florida, woman became a hero while driving on Interstate 75 and witnessing an accident. Rebecca Dabney watched in horror as a car flipped and immediately pulled over to help the driver. She had the skills to know what to do in the emergency because she was a police officer for 13 years and she also had an essential tool - a switchblade.
Dabney rushed to the car and used the knife to cut the driver out of his seat belt, then she pulled him out of the car with help from bystanders. They were able to get him out safely just in time before the car was engulfed in flames.
Another good Samaritan who was helping also had a fire extinguisher in his truck, so he was able to put out the fire while Dabney helped the driver. She says, “Somebody was looking out for him, for sure.”
