When someone retires after many years with a company, they typically get a gift from the employer, but it’s the boss of one U.K. company that’s handing out the gifts on his way out the door. DavidStevens, chief executive of Admiral, a car insurance company, is retiring from the business he started with a team of just 57 back in 2004.
Now they’ve grown to around 10,500 employees worldwide and he’s giving them $12.7-million to split. The 58-year-old CEO’s full-time workers will each receive $1,270 and part-time staff will get $635 each.
“Saying thank you to all Admiral staff in this way is the right thing to do,” Stevens explains. “We’re proud and fortunate to have worked with such a special group of people.”
