Pets at the Connecticut Humane Society have already gone through a tough time in their lives—they don’t need to know the difficulties happening outside their doors, too. That’s why CHS is doing all it can to continue keeping pets in need happy, entertained and loved during the COVID-19 crisis.
CHS has moved dozens of pets into volunteer foster homes, where they will be comfy and cozy during the COVID-19 situation. The pets remaining at CHS are ones who are actively receiving medical and behavioral care and need to receive attention from the staff veterinary and behavior teams.
All three CHS locations are currently closed to adoptions and pet intakes, and cannot accept donations of material goods. Donations can still be made to the pets at CThumane.org/donate. CHS’ Fox Memorial Clinic in Newington is available to serious medical cases by appointment at 800-452-0114. Anyone with urgent questions about pets can call that number as well.
“Our hours of operation and how we function as an organization have been modified to protect our community, our volunteers, and our staff, while still maintaining a level of care for our animals and performing our mission,” CHS Executive Director James Bias said. “Rest assured our staff, volunteers and medical professionals are making sure animals have all of their needs met, whether they are under our roof or in a CHS volunteer foster home.
