Riverfront Recapture has announced that they are cancelling their July fireworks.
Over the years, the development of buildings and the growing tree canopy have made it hard for guests to see the full show. With more people watching from condensed areas, they feel it is difficult to ensure everyone's safety.
Riverfront Recapture's President & CEO stated,
"We have to admit to ourselves that we can no longer welcome tens of thousands of people to Mortensen Riverfront Plaza for a fireworks show on the river and ensure both good viewing and safe egress at the conclusion of the show."
The Riverfront still plans to host many of their other popular events throughout the year, like their Riverfront Food Truck Festival in July.
