Before Miranda Lambert and her now husband Brendan McLoughlin became serious, he had to pass an important test.

"When I first met him, I realized I looked a little bit like a crazy dog lady," Lambert shared in a recent interview. "Which is fine with me, because that's what I am. I was like, 'Hey, if you don't like dogs, that's kind of a deal-breaker.'"

Lucky for Lambert, McLoughlin didn't mind at all. "He actually loves them to death," Lambert adds.

The happy couple currently lives with their many animals on a farmhouse outside of Nashville. Along with dogs, the house is also home to several horses, cats and rabbits.

Lambert's love for animals is no secret. Aside from her career in country music, the "Bluebird" singer has also been a huge advocate for animals in need. She made it her mission to find homes for animals in need.

In 2009, Lambert and her mother, Beverly, started MuttNation as a way to support a cause they were passionate about. The goal of the organization is to ensure that as many dogs as possible have a safe and happy place to call home.

Lambert's recently announced her plans to combine bother her passion for music and animals. As the country star embarks on her "Wildcard Tour," she will simultaneously run MuttNation's Fill the Little Red Wagon campaign in collaboration with Tractor Supply. Fill the Little Red Wagon offers fans the opportunity to bring food, treats, supplies and donations for animals to any tour location. The donations then go to a local animal shelter in every city where Lambert performs.

In addition to showing her support for animals, Lambert will also honor first responders throughout her tour. At each stop, a nominated local first responder will be honored and given a pair of tickets and meet-and-greet passes.

The "Wildcard Tour" launched on Thursday, January 16 in Tupelo, Mississippi and has shows scheduled through the end of February. Tickets for the tour are available now.
