Derek Hough Undergoes Emergency Surgery

2019 Creative Arts Emmy Awards - Arrivals

Derek Hough is recovering after undergoing an emergency procedure.

The Dancing with the Stars performer took to Instagram Saturday night (November 16) to explain the situation, revealing to fans that he had appendicitis, which called for an urgent procedure to have his appendix removed. Despite the severity of the operation, Hough appeared to be in good spirits following his surgery, as witnessed in the hilarious post-op video he shared on the platform.

“Woke up at 3am with a severe and a sharp pain in my abdomen. Knew something wasn’t right,” the 34-year-old professional dancer captioned the post. “Turned out it was appendicitis and had surgery to remove my appendix straight away. This is me immediately after, still a little(a lot) medicated, giving @hayley.erbert a (sexy) little dance. Me: Is this doing it for you babe? Hayley: So hot. Thank you for lying to me babe ;)”

Hough’s emergency operation comes just weeks ahead of the Holidays With the Houghs special he’s planned with sister Julianne Hough on NBC. "It's definitely that classic variety show, but obviously with family, which is great," he told Entertainment Tonight. "We're gonna have some amazing, amazing dances in there. Some really magical moments that we've been planning for a while."

We’re wishing Derek a speedy recovery!
