It’s been a long time coming, but Melvin the dog has finally found his forever home. The black pit bull spent nearly two years in a Los Angeles shelter before a family adopted him, giving him the best birthday present ever.
Melvin will soon celebrate his fourth birthday and this time, he gets to do it at his new home instead of at the spcaLA. The shelter says his new family has “years of large breed experience” and he’ll have two pit bull siblings to play with.
Despite trying several social media platforms to help Melvin get adopted, spcaLA had no luck for 667 days, but they have an idea why. “Melvin’s biggest challenges in finding a home may have been the two things he couldn’t change: the color of his coat and his breed,” they explain. But he found the right match when a family came in searching for “the perfect pit.
